If Marvel movies were written by women

blankiejacket

-Peggy Carter’s funeral would have been more than 3 minutes long.

-Tony Stark would have given a eulogy to Peggy, having grown up admiring her, his dad’s colleague of many years, a tremendously strong female role model (the woman who approved Pepper’s hire, of course).

-Steve Rogers would not have put the moves on Peggy’s niece within a day of burying Peggy.

-Black Widow would have gotten her own movie by now.

-A big part of Bucky’s backstory/flashbacks would have been told through Natasha’s viewpoint, her memories of either working with or against The Winter Soldier in Russia and the East.

-Pepper Potts would have been in Civil War, speaking for herself.

-Wanda’s grief over her brother would still be very present.  Her feelings of loss and mourning would be front-and-center for her character.

-Black Panther’s woman bodyguard would have had more than one line.

-Natasha would have told Steve that she was at Peggy’s funeral in part because she didn’t want him to be alone, but also in part to pay respects to the great Peggy Carter.

-There would be way more women in these movies.  There would be women of many ages, ethnicities, sexual orientations, and nationalities in these movies.  There would be many scenes of women talking to women.  There would be many more scenes of women talking.  And doing.  And feeling.  And being.

…Seriously? Nothing about Jan being fridged?

You know what of course there isn’t. Shouldn’t have even considered that other people would care about the Wasp, they never do. Freaking fracking hypocrites

majingojira

Notice how the only things it fixes are from one movie despite it claiming to be about “The Marvel Movies”?

This is a list that is far to myopic to be of any worth.  Which is sad, because a few of them could have actually worked.

Actually wasp was not fridged she’s going to appear in the sequel living

“You have crossed into the underworld and have encountered Anubis. You give him your heart to weigh.”

“I roll to Bluff.”

“You want to bluff Anubis? You can’t bluff Anubis, he’s a god, he has a godly Sense Motive check.”

“I want to bluff the scales.”

“…you want. To bluff. The scales.”

“Yup.”

“…you know what? I’ll allow it.”

“HA! Nat 20!”

“The scales, for some fucking reason, think your heart is lighter than the feather. Anubis is pretty sure you’re bullshitting him but you know what? Anubis has had a long day. Anubis is not gonna question the scales. You’re in.”

It’s cute how people forget that Buster Keaton, Charlie Chaplain, Mel Brooks, Jerry Bruckheimer, and Michael Bay are all kind of a big deal in film, and they aren’t exactly highbrow.

Shakespeare is widely considered the greatest writer in the English language, and he wrote for the general public and used a shedload of dirty jokes.

Also, I love how the person talking about maturity came up with an insult you’d expect a six-year old to use.

Yeah, it was totally GamerGate’s fault. Not the fault of the indie developers who were supposed to be leading the charge in changing games into an art form. The same indie developers who intentionally made their graphics worse than 8-bit as a “retro” stylistic choice (Fez, Swords and Sorcery). The same indie developers who promise everything and deliver only 20% of it at most, usually after considerable delays (No Man’s Sky). The same indie developers who tell you that their game is an experience, then remove practically all gameplay elements from it (Sunset). The same indie developers who gain notoriety and clout in the industry only through journalists and indie game award shows which they themselves have personal ties to; said journalists and awards shows praising their games like they’re the Holy Grail, despite offering an experience that ranges from kind of okayish to downright horrible (Fez, Depression Quest, Revolution 60, No Man’s Sky).

Indie game developers have nobody to blame but themselves for the “games as art” idea dying out. And if you look very closely, you might notice some points of comparison between GamerGate’s targets of ridicule, and the spoiled indie devs who promised to change the games industry, but put in minimal effort, produced lousy ideas, treated their audience like garbage, vanished mysteriously with a bunch of money leaving behind only empty promises, flaunted themselves like God’s gift to video games, or all of the above.

And it’s not like artsy games (Limbo, Transistor, Ico, Braid, Journey, Inside, etc.) games don’t sell. It’s that bad artsy games don’t sell.

ellieintheskywithroxy

also, American artform? does this clown think video games are only an American thing? I guess Japan can go fuck itself then, even though it was a huge infulence on the industry. Also CD Projekt? Nah, fuck those guys they’re Polish who cares about them

If you’re wondering what kind of impact this had on her career you’re probably just finding out about this now, and this information came out last year. Here’s Kim Pentico on the issue:

“I’m not comfortable with her behavior,” said Kim Pentico of the National Network to End Domestic Violence. “What I am absolutely not willing to say is she’s committed domestic violence without speaking with him and learning more about that relationship.”

“I fully accept my bias,” Pentico said. “A well-trained, well-toned, football player cold-cocked his fiancée (edit: referencing Ray Rice) and dragged her out of an elevator without any emotion. It was an assault. It was a violent, blood-curdling assault. If that was my daughter, I would lose my mind.

"I own that there’s a double standard here,” Pentico continued. “Until the tables turn in our society, it is going to be that way.

"Pentico explained, "a woman’s fear of a man is different from a man’s fear of a woman.” And that is true in almost all cases. Men don’t fear being sexually assaulted, or attacked as they walk down the street at night, or drugged in a bar. Physical violence and sexual violence are closely linked for women, and not nearly as much for men.

In the situation described in Rousey’s book, it’s the photos that made her so incensed. So even in this case, there’s a sexual power that the man wields over the woman – or at least the fear of that kind of power. No, there is no strict self-defense, but there is a defense of her reputation, even though we never learn why the photos were taken. Rousey is standing up for herself, arguably.

That last bold part is important. Because it’s Rousey’s justification for beating the ever living shit out of her boyfriend. Now, we don’t know if he took any pictures, or if he did so without her permission. But what we do know is that a Program Director for the National Network to End Domestic violence just made it abundantly fucking clear it was his fault and he had it coming.

Feminism, ladies and gentlemen, feminism. Because when Feminists rape children (Lena Dunham) it’s totes NDM and when a professional fighter kicks the ever living shit out of her boyfriend he had it coming and they’re absolutely not willing to call it domestic violence. Because, you know, reasons. Feminist Reasons. =)
